In Who's interest........?

In Who’s Interest?

Most of us have debts, on which interest will accrue.

Be it mortgage for a house, or loans where payments are due.

Usually charges enforced, are an acceptable sum,

a smallish price to pay, but still an inevitable one.

It really is important, that all our debts we pay.

None should be worse off, if we didn’t pay our way.

But recently some percentages, were thought to be extreme.

England’s Courts reduced the monies, stating the lenders were too mean.

But consider the third-world scene, millions borrowed over years,

Capital returned in full, yet interest still adheres!

The Countries so affected, fail in accruing wealth,

are unable to care for their people, or provide for their good health.

The situation demands justice, so cancel “Third world debt!”

Those in charge of finance, this greed they must forget.

“Make Poverty History,” break those onerous chains.

Insist it happens now, lest our enthusiasm wanes.  Cjs.

Eucharistic Eulogy

Eucharistic Eulogy

Imagine the Last Supper, all seated for their meal,

all in trepidation, but one away was soon to steal.

When Judas had departed, Christ them all perturbs.

He breaks the bread and blesses it, then says the precious words;

“This now is My body, and the wine My Blood instead.”

No longer was the food, merely simply bread!

Now the flesh of Jesus, His blood… no longer wine!

Christ within all people, He our Lord divine!

Humbly entering our bodies, part of everyone!

“Always in memory of Me, I say this it must be done!

The thought He loves us truly, overwhelming to take on board.

Those present there with Jesus, how their spirits must have soared.

Do we really understand, the enormity of this deed?

At every opportunity, we should on Jesus feed.

No vegetarians we now, on Christ’s nourishment fed.

The Eucharistic Feast, brings joy for the tasks ahead.

Thank you dearest Lord, for loving me in this way.

May I live my life, praising You in every way.  Cjs.

Caustic Criticism

Caustic Criticism

Recently I saw a poster, produced by children with care.

Done to provide a notice, an advert for a Christmas Fair.

Attractively designed, and appealing to the eye,

it encouraged all to attend; then a mistake one did espy.

“Stationary” with second A, thus breaking a cardinal rule,

preparation done by pupils, to raise funding for a school.

Goodness gracious horror, what a serious sin!

But hesitate a moment, what production was it in?

An amateur presentation, done to further a cause,

no monetary reward, not even an audience applause.

Just enthusiastic working, providing service from volunteers

so is it kind to offer, caustic comments and cruel jeers?

Each of us is human, mistakes our inbuilt flaw.

Since none of us is perfect,  how can we another deplore?

‘tis arrogant to be so scornful, pride will come before a fall.

And humility is what is needed, that’s Jesus’ teaching we recall!  Cjs.
