Money Matters
There seem so many problems, so many having to endure.
People are being made redundant, and of new jobs are very unsure.
Costs are rising daily, the winter bitterly cold,
it’s difficult to keep warm, for the young and very old.
Unable to pay the mortgage, threatened with repossession
families caused much heartache, by the Country’s bad recession.
But how to pay the bills, keep a roof above the head,
and keep the bailiffs from the door, a situation all do dread.
First comes a careful budget, and examine all the debts.
Ask for time to pay, and keep notes lest one forgets.
The State may offer help, for benefits may be due.
Seek advice please early on, let not mounting debts accrue.
It could happen to just anyone, seeing their collateral deplete.
We all must help each other, it’s what Jesus would entreat. Cjs.
More Poems from me!
Judas Iscariot
Jesus was betrayed in the garden by a friend
For thirty silver pieces Christ’s life was soon to end
Judas Iscariot..how reviled has been that name,
for selling out dear Jesus for merely monetary gain.
But when Judas realized how evil was that deed,
the remorse that he was feeling overcame his outright greed
He returned the bloodstained money to the temple for the priests,
and fled into the desert to die among the beasts.
Remorseful for his crime no salvation could he see.
By suicide he died, by hanging from a tree.
****
Judas loved his country and desired that it be free.
He knew from all the scriptures a Messiah there would be
He expected that this Saviour would fight with mighty sword
That men would rise and follow and victory be assured.
Jesus seemed the answer, but His message was of peace,
that fighting and all killing must certainly now cease.
Disillusioned and despairing Judas told where Christ would be
And thus was Jesus trapped, soon to face His Calvary.
****
Why did Judas feel that there was no other way?
Was he consumed with hate, none can ever say.
Did he think perhaps he’d force Christ to take a stand,
and the Israelites to rise, to recover their lost land?
But in meekness and in love Christ submitted to His fate.
Now Judas knew dismay, to save Christ it was too late.
Degraded and alone, surely not to be redeemed,
Judas died of lack of hope, at least that’s how it seemed.
But in his final breaths, for forgiveness had he prayed?
For if this is the truth, indeed he has been saved.
None of us is perfect, and whenever we transgress,
we betray Lord Jesus, but He does not love us less.
Out of the Same Stable
Two nations hate each other, at least that’s how it seems.
Both intent on achieving, their own specific dreams.
A wall now built between them, peace talks in disarray,
harmony and simple justice, are forgotten on the way.
No matter what the world says, violence they utilise,
no concern for mutilation, and deaf to grief struck cries.
Murder the intention, suicide the means.
Kill and maim by terror, plotting evil schemes.
Distress and fury follow, retaliation’s sure to come.
Devastation and more carnage, death from a smoking gun.
Hatred’s a vicious circle, to crescendo it escalates.
Revenge each side is seeking, reconciliation each negates.
Women consumed with loathing, offer bombs to detonate.
Assassins kill a leader, for sewing the seeds of hate.
Stolen chance of repentance, denied any change of heart.
Grieving followers determined, in revenge to take a part.
Used the weak and children, with indoctrinated views.
How sad that Palestinians, are in conflict with Israel’s Jews.
In territorial quarrels, injustices do abound.
A desperate situation, which analysts do confound.
All must learn forgiveness, and search for fairness and peace.
Resentments must be abated; all slaying must now cease.
Jesus is in all people, regardless of race or creed.
If any of His family are hurting, it’s Christ whose body does bleed.
So pray for all societies, troubled by dreadful discord.
All citizens deserve true justice, anything less is just deplored. Cjs
Who is my neighbour?
Just who is my neighbour, is it only those next door,
or those resident in my Country, not beyond our coastal shore?
Does a boundary exist, of many thousand miles or none?
But Jesus says our neighbour, is the whole world’s daughter or son!
In Africa for instance, when statistics are compiled,
especially in the Sudan, there’s many a starving child,
Children dying daily, food too costly to obtain,
no milk for tiny babies, no crops providing grain.
On-going funds are needed, to feed each little one
lest tears are shed in grief, when starvation will have won!
“Who will feed My lambs, who will feed My sheep?
The words of Jesus Christ, who for the poor does weep.
A Society does exist, St Vincent de Paul the name,
whose work shows love in action, which the world does put to shame.
For Jesus always said, for each other we must care,
Love is truly the answer, and turning to God in prayer.
Give alms unto the poor, a command ..not just request.
Please give until it hurts, then to love you do attest. Cjs.
