Mass is a must

Mass is a Must

Often it is quoted, “There’s no need to go to Church,

one can do their praying, wherever they do perch.

Outdated is the notion, that we join with other souls

for each can choose their way, be in charge of their own goals.”

Oh how they make excuses, for their apathetic manner!

But disinterest in Christ, means carrying not His banner.

Let us pause and contemplate, just what does Jesus wish?

He told St Peter and apostles, for “men” they were to fish!”

When two or three are gathered, in My name I’m in their midst!”

His words His meaning clear, gather together is the gist.

Congregating just wherever, the focus being Christ,

this is what He bade us, for His purpose it sufficed

Did He intend for Peter, to be Head for just a while,

letting guidance slip away, the world open to satan’s guile?

Whatever you bind on earth, in heaven will be bound,

if edict you loose on earth, in heav’n this also will be found.”

This directive aimed at Peter, gives him right to set the rules.

To his successor show allegiance, to prove we are not fools.

Jesus said we must consume, in His memory bread and wine,

now changed to be His body, and His precious blood divine!

Unless we this receive, Christ’s heav’n we won’t attain!

If we never go to Church, from this commandment we refrain.

Welcome...

More Poems from me!

To Die for the Faith…or Martyrs Not?

In the early Christian Church, knowing Martrydom made Saints,

many converted believers, thought death held no constraints.

So suicide they chose, stating it was for their Lord.

But Saint Augustine in wisdom, said Christ’s teaching they’d ignored.

Love you one another,” is just what Jesus said,

As you love yourself,”… now that’s the way ahead.

Persecution for one’s faith, and dying by another’s hand,

that’s what makes a martyr, not when mass slaughter is planned!

Deliberately taking lives, creating carnage in its wake,

by suicide for any creed, is murder there’s no mistake!

By killing and acts of evil, love will never shine through,

and God will surely judge, each in whatever we do.

Misguided and so wrong, young people have taken lives,

spurred on by men of evil, yet each of them survives!

God created every person, each with an immortal soul.

No-one is more important, or others with dispensable role.

Each of us is precious, for our Lord we’ve a part to play.

None must denigrate another, look to Jesus for the only way.

Despise these malevolent actions, but love those that wish us harm.

Seek justice in all things; from weapons of hate disarm.

Pray to the Lord for guidance, for His love to replace all hate,

that peace and justice be enjoyed, that it won’t be too long a wait. Cjs.

Merely Mistakes...another poem!

Global Gloom

Once there was a time, when we knew we had done wrong,

The Ten Commandments spelt it, so we knew it all along.

Nowadays morality stands upon its head.

What was once immoral, is seen as rubbish and quite dead

Instead there’s new offences, which on us incur blame.

Crimes of the highest order, so instilling a sense of shame.

Burning fossil fuel, electric power and gas,

producing excessive waste, and using CFCs is crass!

A car with four wheel drive, many would annihilate

whilst thirstier cars exist, which do not share this fate

But thirty years ago, for this we weren’t chastised.

As long as we paid our way, never were we criticised.

Suddenly we’re evil doers, must be taxed up to the hilt,

ground down by bureaucrats, who insist that we own guilt.

God gave us this great world, to enjoy not desecrate

but there must better ways, than each other to berate.

We all must work together, for our planet we must save,

learning just what we can do, to change how we behave.

Commandments we must follow, for we dare not leave God out.

Without Him we’ve no power, and the devil will us rout.

Confident contentment

Confident Contentment

When all goes well we’re certain, we did it on our own.

By our skill and our efforts, by nothing were we thrown.

We’re proud of our performance, and expect no little praise.

‘tis only when some trouble comes, to heaven our prayers we raise.

Our gifts and skills aren’t ours alone, the Lord bestowed them all.

Every single thing we do, no matter how large or small,

is done by courtesy of God, to Him recognition is due.

This we must acknowledge, to become more humble too.

Our central focus He must be, our reason for existence.

Once this happens contentment follows, no longer Christ at a distance. Cjs.

Modern Messages

 jesus@heaven.com

Since the world began, messages have been conveyed,

from man to man or woman, enumerable have been made.

Letters via the postman, phone calls telegrams,

and two-way audio transmitters, run by radio ‘hams.’

Drums sounding through the jungle, smoke signals semaphore.

Morse code Braille script language, all communications by the score.

Computers revolutionised, interactions every day.

Now electronic mail, through ‘Broadband’ wends its way.

Emails instantly sent, recipients swiftly to catch,

whether innocent remarks, or devilish plots to hatch.

Yet leaving out a ‘dot’,’ or any other minor detail,

then doomed will be the message, for it will surely fail.

Whatever may be missing, the Lord He knows no bounds,

He will get the missive, for nothing He confounds!

God will always accept, and fill in the lacking parts!

For He knows what we’re thinking, deep in our troubled hearts.

To remind us of this fact, St Paul to the Romans said,

The Spirit comes to aid us, when we’re weak and helpless instead.

For when we cannot pray, the Spirit our petitions will state,

in ways not shown by words, so for succour it is never too late.”
